Condition Kettlebell Gym Logo-Atlanta, GA

I just finished a great workshop with Kettlebell expert Delaine Ross at her Atlanta Condition Kettlebell Gym located in the historic Sweet Auburn area.  This was my very first formal training with kettlebells.  After working with Delaine for a couple of hours, I'm asking myself what was I waiting for?!!!  Kettlebells are a blast and super effective for not only getting fit but also revving your metabolism and losing fat.  The possibilities are endless and cost relatively low compared to investing thousands with other things like gym machines and traditional Olympic weights.

What is a kettlebell?  (Condition KB Gym)

As a Wellcoach, I've always got to know how to get the masses involved because I want everyone to play.  Delaine has offered some great advice to get us all started if you're on your own.  If you have an opportunity to get to Atlanta, by all means look up Delaine at Condition Kettlebell because you won't be disappointed!  She has my Lean Beret RJ stamp of fitness approval!!!

Getting Started Tips by Delaine Ross:

Hi Ron, There are a few good beginners’ DVDs out there.  For both men and women, Pavel’s Enter the Kettlebell is great.  It goes over the foundation exercises and stresses basics,  basics, basics.  If the client is a female who might be intimidated, Andrea DuCane’s From Russia With Tough Love is a great starter DVD.  For coaches there is a DVD by Master RKC, Brett Jones (my close friend and first kettlebell instructor) called Kettlebell Basics for Strength Coaches and Personal Trainers.  You would probably benefit from that one.  They can all be found on the Dragon Door website below.

I learned six basic moves in Delaine's Kettlebell workshop.  I would recommend that you explore these basics as your foundation to kettlebell training as well:

  1. Swings (2 arm, right arm, left arm, & alternating)
  2. Cleans
  3. Presses
  4. Front Squats
  5. (Turkish) Get-ups
  6. Snatches

In addition to Delaine Ross, I also did a more advanced workshop with Kettlebell Guru and Senior RKC Instructor David "Iron Tamer" Whitley--literally one of the best KB instructors in the country.  David has some great videos on his website of basic moves you can check out for free below.  He's also got a new DVD coming out, so I would recommend that one as well.

I've also created some new Kettlebell Training Handouts:

These should get y'all started on one of the hottest things going in fitness today--kettlebells!  Thanks for the tips Delaine.  I'll write up the Iron Tamer workshop soon as well.  They were both great!
