Homework Week #12
Week #12:
(11-24-03) Finish Handout #2, On-Line Quiz #12, Finish Nutrition Journal
Assignment
-
Handout
#2: Make adjustments as needed. Staple
final draft on top with rough draft underneath. For name under the
title and references, use these formats:
-
(Your Name, Bakersfield
College, Fall 2003)
-
References: (See previous
HO #1 directions for specifics. Do not list vertically! Do not use bullets
for references!)
-
On-Line
Quiz #12 (Posted 11-22-03 @3:10 PM!)
-
Nutrition Journal Assignment:
Finish going over your journal entries using your check list as a guide for
what you need to improve upon. Mark off problem areas then use these to help
you write you essay.
-
Type of 1-2 page
reflective essay (.12 font, double space, standard or default margins) about
your learning experience with the nutrition journal. The first paragraph
should reflect what you thought of this kind of assignment in general--was
it hard to write all that stuff down?, did you enjoy recording what you
eat?, etc. The second paragraph should be about what you learned about your
own personal eating habits. The final paragraph should be about your
strategies for improving your eating--what do you need to do and how will
you do it? Use you knowledge of SMART Goals, behavior change psychology,
nutrition science, etc. Come up with a plan "BEFORE" the holidays for
improving. Some of you need more work than others but now you know how to
set yourselves up for success!
-
You will not be graded on
how you eat--just how you follow the directions for the assignment.
-
If you have more than
three paragraphs that's fine. I just tried to give you a simple
three-paragraph 1-2 page guideline.
-
Exam
#4: Because we are running out of
time, I'm just going to make the nutrition potluck an exam grade. You
will need to bring in a healthy food choice and give a very short
presentation to the class about why this food is healthy to eat. For
example, if you brought in nuts and seeds you would explain that they are:
easy to eat, good sources of protein, good sources of omega-3s, good for the
heart, a good high-calorie snack that will keep the hunger pains away until
your next major meal, and tell people about how much "one serving" of nuts
and seeds will be, etc. The presentation should only take about 2-3 minutes.
You need enough food for people to "sample" but you don't have to bring
enough for a whole meal!
-
Final
Exam! I would start going over your
first three exam questions for the final. Anything new that was not on
Exams 1-3 I will specifically highlight so you know to study it for the
final. The most important parts of health are nutrition and physical
activity which is what we have spent most of our time on this semester.
There will be NO surprises on the final--I'll be straight up with you about
what to know and study. The final will be mostly true/false questions.
