Homework for Week #5

  • Read Chapter #9 on Nutrition Basics.

  • Read "Fast Food" handout.

  • Finish final draft of SMART Goal using rough draft, my comments/corrections, and your handout.  Click here for SMART Goal directions.

  • Quiz #2 "On-Line" Assignment:

    • Click here to take the on-line quiz for Portion Distortion.  There are six foods.  You will guess how many calories each food type is currently by looking at what they were 20 years ago.  All of these foods are now significantly higher in calories because their portion sizes have increased.  You will then guess how much time it takes to burn off the extra calories.

    • All of the above steps are easy to follow.  Clear directions are given with links.  Start the quiz; guess what the current calories are; check your answer after each guess; record the current calories and calories 20 years ago, guess how much time it takes to burn off the extra calories, check your answer again and record the correct time.

    • You will be graded on how many correct (It should be ALL since you can get the answers on-line!), your quality of work i.e. typed, neat, clean, correct spelling, etc., and your ability to follow directions.

    • Due next class session on 9-29-03.

    • Your quiz will be formatted as follows and MUST be typed:

      • Food Type=?

      • Calories 20 years ago=?

      • Today's calories=?

      • Time required to burn off extra calories=? *(Also list what "type" of activity they use to burn these calories i.e. running, weights, etc.)

      • NOTE! Each food type will have the above entries!  For example:

     1. Bagel:
    Calories 20 years ago=?
    Today's calories=?
    Time required to burn off extra calories=? *(Also list what "type" of activity they use to burn these calories i.e. running, weights, etc.)

    2. Cheeseburger: (then list)

    3. Spaghetti & Meatballs: (then list)
