Week #1:
(1-27-04)

Nice meeting everyone. We have a
small class, but this will allow us to do some good quality work that cannot be
done with large groups. You'll get more direct assistance from me and
hopefully will learn more. Make sure to buy your text book ASAP.
Briefly go over your notes for an extra credit quiz next week. It will be
pretty general and not too hard--if you were there and paid attention you'll be
fine. See you Tuesday!
-
I have posted handouts in the handout
section. The English and writing handouts are there as well. Check
them out.

Quiz Tips: Have a
"BS" (bumper sticker) definition of Wellness. It can be mine from last
week or one you create, but it needs to reflect a proactive and balance approach
to health. It does not have to be a sentence--just a short bumper sticker
that gets to the point. Go over your notes about our Q&A session i.e. Is
it bad to run daily? Should you lift weights hard every day for the same
muscles? Also know at least one major health project in Bakersfield for
Spring 2004. We discussed three in the Today's News! portion of class.
There will only be five questions. Three T/F and two fill in.

SOS Update!!! (Monday
Night) I'm sorry to say that our class might get
canceled due to low enrollment! I won't know for sure until tomorrow
evening's class. We need about ten more students or the school cannot
afford to keep the class open. I feel very bad about this, but there is
nothing I can do. If we cancel, I will provide other health course options
that are still open. Hopefully an alternative time will work out for you
if we cannot continue with our course. Maybe we won't have to cancel?
Let's see what happens tomorrow. Hang tight for now. We might have
to stay for most of the night to give you credit for two nights or we might just
cancel the class at the beginning--I'll find out more tomorrow. I don't
mind answering ANY health/fitness questions for anyone even if we cancel at the
beginning. If there is something you'd like to know just ask. I'll
do what I can. Thanks, Ron

a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being,
and not merely the
absence of disease or infirmity."
