Ron Jones-"Tiger" Push Up
Ron Jones in "Tiger" Martial Arts Push-Up

So where do I get all these crazy body weight exercises you ask?!  Well definitely not all in one place or all in one generation of fitness.  I have been collecting body weight exercises for years at professional conferences, seminars, from fitness guru friends, university classes, magazines, books, and some I have even created myself after being inspired by my favorite references below. I have researched the history of modern American fitness including The Golden Era of Muscle Beach.  Some of the exercises I use come from pioneers of American Fitness and Muscle Beach like Jack LaLanne.  Many others before LaLanne had interesting workouts and exercises.  Fitness is nothing new--just ignored by most Americans.  Hey man--you don't need fancy equipment to get a great workout!  As my friend Jack LaLanne says, you only need the discipline to kick yourself in the butt and get moving!

Because there was no "one source" for collecting as many body weight exercises as possible, I decided to make my own in an ongoing effort to promote fitness and make healthy accessible to all regardless of socioeconomic status.

Enjoy the exercises.  Some are easy and great for starters.  Some are extremely difficult and must only be attempted by those at the highest levels of fitness.  Many are moderately difficult and most can be modified to decrease or increase challenge.  Bottom Line=MOVE!
