Robert Radnoti Named as Pepperdine Head Cross Country/Track Coach

July 20, 2006

MALIBU, Calif. - Pepperdine University athletics director John Watson announced today the hiring of Robert Radnoti as head cross country and women's track coach. Radnoti takes over the running programs after serving the past year as an assistant coach for the Wave track team.

Radnoti takes over for Dick Kampmann who will begin his second retirement at the end of the month.

"This really is a dream come true for me," said Radnoti. "To be able to step into a head coaching position at a division I university is something I have always wanted to do. There is a strong foundation here at Pepperdine and I feel like the program is moving in the right direction to become one of the premier running programs in the nation. We have a great group of kids coming in, lots of excitement with prospective student-athletes and I am confident both the cross country and track teams will show immediate and continued improvement."

A well respected coach in Southern California, Radnoti was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the California Coaches Alliance in 2000. Prior to joining the Pepperdine staff in January, the Las Vegas, Nev., native served as the head coach for the Thousand Oaks High School cross country and track & field teams. For his efforts, he was tabbed the LA Times High School Coach of the Year after leading the cross country team to the state title in 2005. His Track & Field teams posted a 241-14 overall record, while the cross country teams finished with a 289-12 mark in the tough Marmonte League in Venture County. Prior to his stint at Thousand Oaks, Radnoti served as Chairman of the Board of the United States Corporate Athletics Association.

Radnoti ran for the University of Colorado, one of the premier distance-running programs in the nation. While competing for the Buffalos, Radnoti competed at the NCAA Cross Country Championships.

Ron Jones has assisted Coach Radnoti & Pepperdine XC-Track with Dynamic Warm-Ups and fitness conditioning programs.
